It’s a brave new world, my friends. Photo/Video technology is developing so fast that any news posted will be old news within a week. I came across a guy by the name of Vincent Laforet on the web who was given a Canon 5D Mark II pre-production model to shoot a test video. What I saw was remarkable. In fact, I was speechless. I won’t say more. Just see for yourself.
Check out his site for the short film he shot and a behind-the-scenes look at his process.
Here’s what the rumored specs are so far
* 21.1 MP 1.0x
* DIGIC IV
* ISO 100-6400 L:50 & H:12800
* 5 FPS
* 3.2″ High Resolution Screen (LCD)
* 19 point AF
* HDMI Out
* Liveview
* HD Movie Mode
* Viewfinder: 100% Coverage
* Full weather sealing
* EF Lenses only
The fact that this is a Canon makes me sad as I have a set of Zeiss ZF lenses for the Nikon. Nikon does have the D90 which shoots HD video but I wasn’t as impressed with the video quality as I was with the Canon 5D. Well, the price tag certainly is a big difference. The Nikon D90 is in the $1000 range whereas the Canon 5D will be many times that.
